About Us
YOUR DREAM... OUR GUIDANCE
Stepping Stone Academy is the brainchild of Commander Sachin Jog (Ex- Indian Navy) and Lt Col Sameer Bhoraskar (Ex- Indian Army).
Both officers have 22+ years of a distinguished career in uniform having held varied prestigious appointments during their service careers.
Cdr Sachin Jog has served two tenures as a Psychologist at NSB, Coimbatore (2007-2010) and Selection Centre South, Bangalore (2010-2012).
Lt Col Sameer Bhoraskar has also served two tenures as a GTO at Selection Centre Central (Bhopal) (2006-2009) and Selection Centre South, Bangalore (2009-2012).
Both are qualified assessors from Defence Institute of Psychological research (DIPR), Delhi.
Since 2016-17, Lt Col Sameer and Cdr Sachin have been closely involved in guiding students to achieve success at the SSB. As mentors, they have worked very closely (and continue to work) with students from many schools considered as “Feeder Institutes” for the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA). They take pride in the fact that students mentored by them from such Institutes have seen huge success at the SSB and have successfully taken the first steps towards an Officers’ Commission in Indian Armed forces. Few of these are:
- Sainik School – Satara
- Sainik School – Chittorgarh
- Services Preparatory Institute – Aurangabad
- Army Institute Of Technology – Pune
- Kolhapur Institute of Technology – Kolhapur
As founding faculty of one of the academies at Pune, in 2018-19, they have achieved the unique distinction of having mentored close to 400 students, over 60 of whom achieved success at the SSB. All this was achieved in a span of less than 18 months. This is perhaps the best success ratio for any institute in this field.
In Feb 2020, Cdr Sachin and Lt Col Sameer decided to set off independently and started “Stepping Stone SSB Academy” so as to continue to guide Armed Forces aspirants to achieve their career goals.

The uniqueness of Stepping Stone SSB Academy is its specialized and result oriented approach to SSB guidance. We are conscious of the big difference between "coaching" and "guidance". Since the SSB aims at evaluating personality, our efforts are always towards guiding candidates to understand themselves better and give their best. Our experience has shown us that coaching students to respond / answer in a particular way (as practised in certain institutes) actually causes more harm and prevents candidates from giving their best. However, guidance helps them to be natural while being at their best.
we follow a Systematic, result-oriented Approach
All sessions at Stepping Stone SSB Academy follow a very systematic approach, which includes complete familiarisation with the “two-stage” SSB Selection System and detailed discussions about the correct approach to the tests, followed by personalised evaluation and feedback.
we have Highly Qualified & Experienced Assessors
Both Lt Col Sameer and Cdr Sachin are DIPR trained and qualified assessors who have served as SSB panel members. They have over 22+ years of uniformed service and over 12+ years of combined SSB panel experience. During their tenure at the SSBs they have been involved in assessing thousands of students. Many candidates selected by them are proud commissioned officers today. They continue to work very closely with feeder institutes like Sainik schools at Satara & Chittorgarh and SPI, Aurangabad to mentor students to achieve success at the SSB.
we have Excellent Infrastructure
Our guidance centre is equipped with all the necessary infrastructure needed to impart guidance for the SSB, giving the candidates a real feel of the entire process. We have a well-equipped classroom for conducting all tests and discussion sessions. Further, our guidance centre is one of the few institutes that has full size GTO tasks for PGT / HGT / etc. Our GTO Area helps the candidates to get a real time experience of group discussions and such other group activities, almost akin to what they would face at the SSB.
